Yoga grows with you, starting where you are and leading you to where you want to be. While many forms of exercise consider only the physical body, yoga brings a unique blend of calm, together with mental clarity and sustainable movement that helps you stay active and age with grace, stamina, and joy!
Yoga has become a buzzword, a trend in the fitness community, but it has withstood the test of time. There are many forms of yoga, volumes of books and years of study only scratch the surface. For now I will concentrate on the physical yogic exercises or postures (asana), conscious breathing, and mindful actions, that build strength, flexibility, reduce stress, and grow healthy bodies. This is Hatha Yoga (a general term for physical yoga). Hatha Yoga is an ancient discipline consisting of postures, meditation, breath, and other techniques practiced to unite body, mind, & spirit. These practices help to condition the body; bring awareness, which liberate the mind from dysfunctional thought & perception, and gain inner peace. This type of yoga works from the outside in, helping the body to strengthen and stretch while providing feedback to internal processes such as regulating heart rates and soothing nerves. This is the magic of yoga!
